Based on the 2015 vintage, the latest rendition of Selosse's NV Extra-Brut Grand Cru Les Carelles is one of the more tightly coiled wines in the range, unwinding in the glass with aromas of golden orchard fruit, clear honey, beeswax, white flowers, walnuts and vin jaune. Full-bodied, ample and concentrated, with a deep core of fruit that's primed to explode with a bit of age on cork, it's racy and concludes with a long, penetrating finish. - WK 08/2022Vinous
The NV Extra-Brut Le Mesnil sur Oger Les Carelles (2014) is a powerful, explosive Champagne that shows the richer side of the village in its broad, ample personality. It displays the energy and salinity of Mesnil, but with a huge center of fruit and the flavor complexity that comes from the perpetual reserve that dates back to 2003. From a steep south-facing vineyard and a ‘reserve perpetual’ spanning 2010-2003 inclusive. Has some almost greener herbal elements with lime essence and pepper-dusted grapefruit. It has a powerful and enriched texture on the palate with some gently bitter caramelised peach fruits and some smoky and woody notes. Long mineral finish, drink now.
